Abstract
This study comprehensively evaluates the cellular effects of fruit extracts and their active phytochemical components when applied individually and in combination. Using a range of in vitro cell culture models, including human epithelial and immune cell lines, we systematically assessed the impact of these natural extracts on critical cellular processes such as viability, proliferation, oxidative stress response, and inflammation. Fruit extracts were first chemically characterized to identify major bioactive constituents, including flavonoids, phenolic acids, and vitamins, which are known for their health-promoting properties. Isolated active components were then tested for their capacity to modulate cellular functions under basal and stress-induced conditions. The results demonstrate that individual fruit extracts significantly enhanced cell survival and reduced markers of oxidative damage, while also downregulating pro-inflammatory cytokine expression. Furthermore, combined applications of select fruit extracts and their purified components revealed synergistic effects, producing greater antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits than single extracts alone. Mechanistic investigations suggest these effects are mediated through modulation of intracellular signaling pathways involved in redox homeostasis and inflammatory regulation. The findings underscore the potential of fruit-derived compounds as natural therapeutic agents capable of protecting cells from oxidative and inflammatory insults, which are implicated in the pathogenesis of numerous chronic diseases. This study highlights the importance of exploring combined applications to maximize health benefits, paving the way for future translational research and the development of novel nutraceutical formulations.
